Repeatable, measurable processes increase the maturity and effectiveness of a federal Innovation Lab

Overview

A federal agency established an Innovation Lab, with the mission of promoting the adoption of innovative technologies across the financial services sector through pilot projects with emerging technology.

Our Approach

RiverNorth is helping the agency transform how government manages innovation by delivering expert project managers who support ongoing project ideation and selection; oversee test projects using agile methodologies; and report on return-on-investment.

Using best practices in SAFe agile and innovation systems, we assumed responsibility for a previously troubled IT project and reengineered the management processes to deliver it successfully.

We completed an in-depth analysis of the agency’s Project Management Lifecycle, System Development Lifecycle, and the Agile Implementation Framework to provide recommendations that will better incorporate Agile best practices and change the face of Innovation Lab projects in coming years.

Results

RiverNorth is the first in the Federal industry to introduce the internationally recognized ISO 56002-2019 standards to an Innovation Lab, which outlines best practices for innovation lab management and measurement. 100% of our team holds certification in the standard and we are actively mentoring the agency on adopting the standards into its everyday procedures.
